Study for Full Body Model (Chinese Soldier)

More than just a study of form, this pencil drawing hints at a rich and untold story. The figure of the elderly Chinese soldier, leaning on his cane, carries the weight of experience and perhaps a lifetime of service. The stark graphite rendering emphasizes the resilience in his posture and the wisdom in his gaze. This study invites contemplation on the passage of time and the enduring spirit of the individual.

Pencil Sketch Study: Classical Bust

This pencil drawing is a classical bust study I created during high school, inspired by Roman sculpture. I focused on capturing the intensity of the subject’s expression, the weight of the fabric, and the intricate texture of the hair and stone surface. The chiaroscuro shading was especially important to me—it helped create depth, volume, and that almost tangible mood of stoic strength. This piece was part of my foundational training in understanding light, form, and texture.
